Our Text is Matthew 9:35-38 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Today’s message is titled, “Don’t be fooled; People Need Jesus.”

That’s also the main idea for today. That’s all I want to say.

Don’t be fooled by how somebody talks.
Don’t be fooled by how somebody dresses.
Don’t be fooled by what somebody drives.
Don’t be fooled by where somebody lives.
Don’t be fooled by somebody’s perfect looking life.
Don’t be fooled by how antagonistic somebody is towards Jesus.

When Jesus looked down from heaven before He came to earth, He saw beneath the pretense, the bluster. He saw a sin-drenched world and all of us were soaking wet.

When Jesus looked out on the multitude, he saw sheep without a shepherd. He saw people who were harassed and helpless.

When Jesus looked down from the cross. He saw blindness and cluelessness. Father forgive them, for they don’t know what they’re doing.

Don’t be fooled by how religious people are or by their church going.
Don’t be fooled by somebody’s authority.

Don’t be fooled, because no matter how “together” their life may appear, without Jesus they literally have no life. That’s why Jesus said in John 6:53, without Him, you have no life within you.

Don’t be fooled thinking people need your spiritual skill or expertise. Jesus has worked through people who have far less knowledge than you do.

Instead let us remember, the work of God is to believe in the One whom He has sent. (John 6:29). That is how we learn our role and execute it in the family business.

    1. Remember it’s God’s work. Matthew 16:18 “I will build my church.”

    2. Be ready to share your story. 1 Peter 3:15 “Be ready to give an account for the hope that is in you.”

    3. Make love for the brethren your focus. 1 Peter 4:8 “Above all love one another.” And of course, John 13:34 “A new commandment, give I unto you… By this will all men know that you are my disciples.”

    4. Subscribe.
Ask God to deliver that quality to you.

Remember Paul’s words, “It is no longer I but Christ living in me and the life I now life in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and delivered Himself up for me.

There is never a need to be intimidated by any directive, instruction or exhortation from the Scriptures.

The Lord did not save us to burden us or oppress us, but to work in us and through us.

Don’t be fooled; People Need Jesus. And that mean all of us!
