Message Text: Acts 8:26-40 (NIV)
I. God gives us understanding about who Jesus is.
Vs. 35 “that very passage,” which happens to be in Isaiah chapter 53.
Philip shared but God enlightened. See also Lydia (Acts 16:14).
II. God does it His way…
He can speak to anyone at any time and in any place.
Perhaps after Philip left, the Ethiopian might have read. Isaiah 56:3-5! “And do not let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree… I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.”
III. The Ethiopian embraced his new identity
Vs. 38 “He gave orders”
He was their boss. So he gave them orders to stop the chariot.
The lesson for us: No one can change who you are to God.
IV. He connected with the joy of the Lord…
On that desert road he got his first taste of the joy of the Lord from the inside out.
Romans 15:13 “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Psalm 139:18 “When I awake I am still with You.”
