Because of Jesus, nobody has it better than us and we are always better off than we realize.

This is not arrogance; it’s gratitude.  We have nothing to boast about and everything to be grateful for.

Our Text 2 Timothy 2:8-10  Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel,  He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,,but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

Our worst day on earth is still lived under the covering of eternal security, unbreakable love, and a future glory that outweighs present suffering (Romans 8:18).

    1.   Remember Jesus Christ

Remembering Jesus is like getting a pep talk from the Spirit. Only it’s real talk.  It is good for the soul, mind, body and spirit.

    2.   Raised from the dead

This is my gospel.  This is what makes Christianity different than the religions of the world. We serve a risen Savior.

We are not celebrating a martyr today.  Martyr’s stay dead.  Jesus did not (Acts 1:1-5).

    3.   He saved us.

From what? A Christless eternity.  An eternity forever separated from God and every attribute of God.  But he didn’t just save us from something.  He saved us to something

The leaf that never touched the ground.  Yesterday 8th anniversary.

    4.   Not because of anything we’ve done.

Remember this on your best day and your worst day. God’s favor is not riding the roller coaster of your performance. He called us not only when we were sinners… but when we were His enemies.

That means there are only two categories: favor with God or enmity with God. And if you are in Christ, you are in the first category – always. Best day, worst day, middle-of-the-road day.

    5.   Destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

Death is separation from God. Life is union with God and immortality is living forever.

The essence of God’s plan for mankind is Life. The essence of life is love.  God’s love. The essence of love is freedom.  And the effect of freedom is love.

Just as Jesus was free from all men and love was the effect.  Paul said I am free from all men and I have made myself a slave to all.
