    Text: 2 Corinthians 2:12–17

Paul’s imagery of a Roman triumphal procession.

Key picture: Christ as the triumphant leader, believers as joyful participants, gospel as the fragrance spreading everywhere.

    Main points:
    1.  We are already victors in Christ.
    2.  We are always in His triumphal procession.
    3.  We must think and live like champions.

    I. We Are Already Victors in Christ

    • 1 Corinthians 15:57 — Victory through Christ.
    • Romans 8:37 — More than conquerors.
    • Earthly victories fade: trophies tarnish, jerseys go on sale, glory passes.
    • Christ’s victory is eternal — we are champions forever.
    • Truth is unchanging: John 17:17 — God’s Word is truth.
    • In Christ, you can never be a loser.

II. Always in the Triumphal Procession

    • Daily life = victory parade in Christ.
    • Our status is secure; nothing can take it away.
    • Awaiting the reward ceremony:
    • 2 Timothy 4:8 — Crown of righteousness for all who long for His appearing.
    • Our “ring ceremony” will be at Christ’s return, but we are already champions now.

III. Think and Live Like the Champion You Are

    • Honor God by walking, thinking, and celebrating like champions.
    • Rejoice in the Lord always.
    • Life is a library: trophies, journals, photos, letters — reminders of God’s faithfulness.
    • Prayer: “Lord, since You gave Your gifts so freely, let me receive and enjoy them today.”
    • Champions use their platform as ambassadors for Christ:
    • Example: showing love to a server — love is the hallmark of a champion.
    • Galatians 5:6 — Faith expressing itself through love.
    • Champions don’t strive to earn what they already have.
    • God’s patience is endless; His support is steady and wrapped in grace.

    Conclusion

    • Todd Christiansen: Sports have clarity — win or lose.
    • Gospel clarity: We won! Our scoreboard is the Cross.
    • Christmas reminder: cradle and cross cannot be separated.
    • John 12:27 — Jesus came for this very hour.

Final truth: We are victors in Christ.

    • Our status is secure.
    • His care is perpetual.
    • Our destiny is certain.
    • We are always in His triumphal procession.
    • Let’s think and live like champions.
