The View from My Place – “Taking it With You”

February 16, 2022 By Dan Baty 1 Comment

They say you can’t take it with you when you die, but I must respectfully disagree. I fully expect to take my riches with me when I leave this life, because they are the riches of knowing Christ.

Every day the Lord gives me on this earth, my prayer and my heart’s desire are that all the events, interactions, moods and activities of the day would be a means to the end of increasing for me the wealth of knowing Him.

The apostle Paul invested his faith and his very life into the building of his relationship with Christ. His supreme desire was to know Christ better. Like earthly wealth, Paul was enjoying Jesus right here on earth – despite and even *in* his many trials – and he was convinced that when he saw Jesus, “dividends” on his investment would be waiting for him. (See 2 Timothy 1:12.)

In the same way, if your joy of joys in this life is in knowing Jesus Christ, if He is your wealth, you can not only be “living the life” right now, but you are also taking your riches – who Jesus is to you – with you. And those riches will become even greater when you see Him.
